Holcim will supply the cement requirements of Megawide’s Precast and Construction Solutions (PCS) unit projects across Luzon in 2024. The partnership is a continuation of the collaboration between Holcim and Megawide since 2016.

Through its engineering expertise and project management excellence, Megawide has participated in building several important infrastructure projects to advance Philippine development. Among key projects Megawide is currently involved in are the Malolos-Clark Railway and the Metro Manila Subway. It also has property development projects through unit PH1 World Developers, Inc.

“With our renewed supply agreement with Holcim Philippines Inc., Megawide has reinforced its linkage with a like-minded partner who supports our vision of a First-World Philippines,” remarked Markus Hennig, EVP for Precast and Construction Solutions. “Our synergy will help form the country’s major infrastructure that are built with Megawide’s innovative solutions and Holcim’s high-quality cement products.”

Holcim Philippines President and CEO Horia Adrian: “We are grateful to Megawide for its continuing trust in our ability to support them in building important development structures in the country. We look forward to providing Megawide’s cement supply needs in 2024 and continuing engagements on possible collaborations to advance innovative and sustainable building in the Philippines.”

Holcim Philippines, meanwhile, has been accelerating efforts to support innovative and sustainable construction in the country. In 2023, the company relaunched its flagship general purpose cement as Excel ECOPlanet following successful efforts to slash the carbon footprint of the product by at least 30% compared with ordinary portland cement (OPC). It also introduced Optimo, a limestone blended cement for infrastructures and vertical structures. Optimo delivers the same strength, workability, and durability as OPC and  remains compatible with cement additives such as slag and fly ash.

It also launched the Holcim Concrete Quality League, which seeks to strengthen collaboration and knowledge-sharing on concrete among the country’s top builders.
